Newly refurbished in summer 2019, Océano Health Spa Hotel is located directly overlooking the Atlantic ocean, surrounded by green mountains and lush vegetation in the north of Tenerife. It may look high-rise in design but it’s actually very remotely located and non-touristy, with no other hotels around plus ancient woodland and mountain hiking tours directly from the hotel. Associated with the Mayr-Centre (world experts in the field of wellness) it’s a great place to detox, relax and recharge the batteries. Through a powerful combination of authentic Thalassotherapy and expertise from the Mayr medical centre, Océano is the perfect destination for a results-driven wellness holiday. Led by a professional team of doctors and therapists, the spa treatments are aimed at aiding detox or boosting fitness, through massages, shiatsu, osteopathy and natural cosmetics. This hotel is adults only with a minimum age of 18 years.

With this programme we accompany you on your way to more movement, well-being and higher performance. The balanced mix of therapeutic treatments and personal training is specially adapted to men, ensures relaxation and at the same time more strength and endurance. The healthy OCÉANO cuisine ensures a balanced diet and creates a new body awareness. On request further components such as a bio-impedance analysis (BIA) for a precise overview of your nutritional status and physical fitness can also be booked.

Oceano Strong Back

Movement is one of the central elements for physical well-being. Our experienced specialists and therapists help you to relieve pain and regain mobility. Existing blockages are gently released and the self-healing powers activated with the help of anti-inflammatory seawater treatments and packs. The treatments are also suitable for chronic pain disorders of the musculoskeletal system, after sports injuries and generally helpful to increase physical performance. In addition, moderate strength training in the affiliated Centre of Healthy Motion helps to strengthen the muscles and find more fun in physical activity again. Programme is designed for 7 nights.

Oceano Weight Control

With this programme we accompany you on the way to your feel-good weight. Balanced, alkaline-rich nutrition and deep-acting seawater treatments stimulate the metabolism and ensure relaxation. With personal training and aqua fitness, you work specifically on your fitness and experience a whole new body awareness. In addition, the daily yoga programme provides new energy and balance. In this cure, the focus is on the tightening and toning of the tissue. Due to the high concentration of minerals in seawater and algae, the metabolism in the tissue is stimulated. Additionally strengthened by the carbohydrate-reduced balance diet. Our tried and tested Body Shape programme supplemented by the deep-acting ozone and mesotherapy provides healthy skin and an even better result. Stay needs min. 7 nights.

FX Mayr Detox 10 nights programme

For the intensification of the classic F.X. Mayr therapy with a focus on abdominal treatment and special attention to the activation of the intestine and the stimulation of the detoxification organs. This is a basic and classic F.X. MAYR diet programme. Mayr medicine focuses on therapeutic fasts to rest the digestive tract. After sensitive diagnostics, the patient is individually treated and guided according to the following therapeutic principles: rest, cleansing, education, substitution, sports and personal. Mayr detox is known for helping chronic illnesses or as a prevention. Each client will be treated individually based on a preliminary examination and diagnosis. Abdominal massage is performed a number of times during your stay as it helps to tone the intestines, improve the blood supply to abdominal organs, stimulate the lymph flow and improve breathing.

If Mayr detox is not your cup of tea Oceano offers various other programmes to reboot your body such as weight control, relaxation, yoga or physical rehabilitation.

Led by a professional team of doctors and therapists the spa treatments are aimed at aiding detox, weight loss or boosting fitness, through massages, shiatsu, osteopathy, Ayurveda and natural cosmetics that often take advantage of the natural healing powers of seawater.

The indoor Thalasso pool is used for private treatments but it can used between 5 - 7 pm at at extra charge.

Facilities include sea pool, indoor Thalasso pool (heated to 34°), outdoor seawater pool (heated to 26°), seawater whirpool (heated to 32°), Finish sauna, infrared Sauna, steam bath, gym and yoga studio.

Rooms

All 88 rooms face the sea to varying degrees to take in the exquisite views of Teide. There’s no air-conditioning in any of the rooms but the gentle sea breeze is enough to keep you cool all year round. You can also borrow a DVD player and DVDs from reception free of charge.

Standard Single

The Oceano Single Rooms are 28-31 m2 and can only accommodate one person. They have a single bed space combined with the living area.

Rooms have direct or side sea views and views of the Teide mountain.

Some rooms have balconies and some French windows - no outdoor space (subject to availability).

The en-suites have either a shower or bath, bathrobe, slippers and a hairdryer.

Facilities include safe, telephone, kettle, TV and Wi-Fi.

Superior Double

The Oceano Superior Rooms are 39-45 m2 and can accommodate up to 3 people. They have a double bed, living area and dining table.

These rooms have a private balcony with direct sea views.

The en-suites have either a shower or bath, bathrobe, slippers and a hairdryer.

Facilities include safe, telephone, kettle, TV and Wi-Fi.

Design Double Ocean View

The Oceano Design rooms are 45m2 and are high quality. They have a double bed, living area with sofa.

These rooms have a private balcony with direct sea views.

The en-suites have either a shower or bath, bathrobe, slippers and a hairdryer.

Facilities include safe, telephone, kettle, TV and Wi-Fi.

Apart from standard room amenities, this room comes with a daily newspaper and a bottle of champagne on arrival.

What’s on the menu

Food is fresh, mainly seasonal and locally sourced, with seafood, meat, poultry or vegetarian options available. Delivered in an imaginative and varied way you will feel very satisfied. However, the detox programmes follow the Mayr principles and offers quite a restricted but thoughtful version of the normal menu. You and your Mayr doctor will determine whether you will go for fasting or of mild yet enjoyable, light Mayr food. If you are doing a detox, you actually eat in a separate dining room with terrace and are encouraged to dine in quiet contemplation.

If you are not doing the Mayr detox, your programme will include breakfast and 3 course healthy 'balance' menu for dinner (vegetarian options avaialble).

OCEAN 11

Roof top lounge situation on the 11st floor of the hotel. Enjoy views over the Mount Teide, bay of Punta del Hidalgo and breath-taking sunsets.

Location

Océano Hotel Health Spa is based on the quiet and lush north side of Tenerife, right on the coast, in the tranquil fishing village Punta del Hidalgo, away from the mass tourism. Nearby to the UNESCO protected village of La Laguna. Hotel is between sea and the mountains, offering views of Mt Teide. Capital city of Santa Cruz is about 24 km away.

Nearest airport

Transfer time is 30 min from Tenerife North Airport by car, and 1 hour from the more widely-used Tenerife South Airport. There are plenty of direct flights to Tenerife South airport from London and other major UK cities throughout the year.

Families, Children & Infants

This is an adults only hotel however kids are allowed to stay during the summer holidays and Christmas. Hotel does not offer any babysitting facilities or a kids club. Upon request a baby cot or a baby chair will be provided.

A very good, well run hotel. I went specifically for weight loss and wasn’t disappointed. My first visit to see the doctor was successful and a great programme followed, with many different massages, aqua fitness, gym and my special diet for the weight loss. All staff and therapists were friendly, kind and extremely professional. A wonderful break and I enjoyed every minute.

Stunning location on north Tenerife coast. All rooms have a sea view and you are lulled to sleep with the sound of the waves crashing against the shore. Temperate weather and lovely 30 minute walk along the coast to reach nearby National Park.

The therapists and consultants were universally top notch, the spa facilities superb, the room was lovely with sea and volcano view, and the food was divine. I couldn’t have asked for better anything on any area of this retreat, including value for money. I shall be back.

Great location, great yoga programme. Staff amazing. Food very good, hotel clean. The only thing that lacks improvement is towel placing on deck chairs around the pool at 6:30am. This should not be encouraged as guests that arrive later do not get cushions as was our case, and most chairs were unoccupied and towels placed on them reserving them for whole day.it ruins the relaxing feel of the place.

Really beautiful hotel with exceptionally friendly staff and a great range of treatments and activities. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is that there were several admin hiccups: the thalasso bath was out of action for two days, the spa only opens for 6 days so they struggled to fit everything in my programme in and give me time for lunch, and a conference in the hotel meant they moved classes a couple of times without telling anyone which meant a bit of confusion and rushing around at the start of the class.

Very good and strict regime. Charming doctor and great treatments. Some small niggles. Wifi so so only. Tv in the room geared solely to Spanish (which is quite right) and German guests - hardly any channels in English which is a shame as sometimes confined to the room. Same can be said for some of the staff. Sun loungers by the pool extremely hard - should have mattresses on them!

An amazing place to relax and unwind. All of the staff extremely helpful. The location of the hotel is great with the sound of the waves as you relax by the pool. The modern gym facility is an additional bonus to the spa and the hotel.

Great hotel, fabulous staff and wonderful treatments. The doctors are thoughtful and very detailed. I felt very cared for and well looked after. The little gym looking out onto the sea is delightful. The swimming pool was very, very cold!!

The location was absolutely lovely with all rooms having a sea view and a quiet location. Food very vey good and staff very friendly and accommodating, I will certainly visit there again. The criticism I will make is that it was a shame the Jacuzzi was not working. Also I had booked half board, but was not told that no drinks were included with my evening meal, even water, so I was billed each time I had my evening meal as an additional cost to my holiday. Also although there were additional excursions available for us to pay for, if enough people did not sign up for it, then it would not go ahead, which was a shame as there were a few I would have liked to have taken part in, but was told could not go ahead due to the numbers. It was also lovely of the hotel to arrange a free day trip for the clients as 'noisy' work was being carried out on the hotel. The trip was absolutely lovely and more of them would have be welcomed. Overall, I loved the location, hotel and staff and would definitely return there again.
