Ayursoma Ayurveda Retreat is the latest addition to the Somatheeram Ayurveda Hospitals group (you might already be familiar with Manalheeram Ayurveda Beach Resort and Somatheeram Ayurveda Beach Resort.) Like other 2 resorts, Ayursoma offers excellent Ayurvedic healing programmes and traditional therapies but in more luxurious setting full of local heritage. Ayurvedic programmes are not restricted to Ayurveda herbal treatments only, you will received 360 degree health boost and body & mind transformation via yoga, meditation, food and overall ambiance of this special place. And let's not forget the beachside location!

Ayurveda Rejuvenation

This therapy leads to rejuvenation and rebuilding our overall health, by preventing degeneration of body cells. Rasayana Chikilsa improves immunity and blood circulation which boosts our mental and physical health. The treatment includes body massage with hands and legs by two masseurs with medicated oil and cream. Internal herbal medicines and medicated steam baths are also used during the process. Minimum stay 7 nights.

Ayurveda Detox

Purifying the body by detoxification and eventually rejuvenating a person’s health. A proper balance of Tridoshas or the Three Fundamental Energies of the body is attained through Shodhana Chikilsa. This is also called the waste elimination therapy which is effective in removing excessive toxins. The package includes Body massage, Snehapanam, Nasyam, Virachanam(Medicated purgative), Snehavasthi, Dhara , Pizhichil, Njavarakizhi, Karnapooranam, Tharpanam, Sirovasthi, Steam Bath, and internal herbal medicines. Min stay is 10 nights.

Wellness

The Ayurveda Centre has a team of 12 doctors and 60 therapists well trained in the science of Ayurveda, most of them coming from Ayurvedic treatment families. The Ayurveda Centre is located on its own dedicated floor with 20 treatment rooms and a few treatments also attached to accommodation. The therapies use a range of natural herbal medicine and warm oils and all are personalised according to your own dosha (constitution). If you are looking for an authentic Ayurveda retreat, look no further.

Facilities include 25 treatment rooms, Ayurveda hospital, Ayurveda beauty clinic, swimming pool overlooking the ocean and Ayurveda shop. You can practice yoga and meditation in 2 halls or in a open air shala. There is also a dedicated place for lectures and seminars on Ayurveda, yoga and meditation, perfect place for a group discussion.

Rooms

All rooms at Ayursoma Ayurveda Retreat have been carefully built using local materials and craftmanship, mainly using wood and unique stone to help you keep connected to the nature. They are a mixture of luxury yet taking into consideration of the authenticity of the area. All rooms have a peaceful ambiance and benefit from sea views (except the Hill View rooms) and all have their own private balcony or veranda. Each room has a ceramic coated steel bath so you can enjoy a herbal soak (as per doctor's order).

Palace Deluxe Room Hill View

These traditional rooms are 40m2 providing spacious bedroom and face hillock which the property is built on.

They have a private bathroom with ceramic coated steel bathtub and separate shower.

They also have a private balcony with views of the hills.

Facilities include complimentary Wi-Fi, television with premium cable channels, air-conditioning, mini fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, safe, hairdryer, iron and ironing board.

Palace Deluxe Room

The Palace Deluxe rooms are 42m2. A private balcony offers stunning views of the beach and ocean.

They have a bedroom with private bathroom with ceramic coated steel bathtub and separate shower.

Yuvaraja Royal Junior Suite

The Yuvaraja Royal Junior Suites are 50m2.

Maharaja Royal Suite

The Maharaji Royal Junior Suites are 65m2.

What’s on the menu

Ayursoma follows a special Ayurvedic menu which was designed by their team of Ayurvedic doctors. Guests can choose from over 250 dishes including traditional Ayurveda dishes based on the dosha system, regional Indian delicacies and a wide choice of international dishes. Guests who are following an Ayurveda programme are encouraged to follow this diet stricly to maximise the benefits of their stay.

There is also a coffee shop located near to the reception which is open 24 hours a day.

Resturant

This open air restaurant which is located on the sea level offering direct sea views. Watch the sunset and listen to the sound of waves while enjoying your delicious meal.

Location

Located in Kerala, South India, the birthplace of Ayurveda. Ayursoma Ayurveda Retreat is nestled between the hillside, coconut palms and the sweeping Chowara beach. Hotel does have a gift shop, internet cafe, currency exchange and tour & travel assistance. Beach umbrellas and towels are provided.

Nearest airport

The transfer time from Trivandrum (Thiruvanathapuram) International Airport is approximately 30 minutes by car. There are no direct flights from the UK. You can fly with Emirates, Quatar, Etihad, and many other flight providers. Most of them have one stop over in the Middle East. Jet Airways flies directly to Mumbai.

Families, Children & Infants

AyurSoma Ayurvedic Retreat is not suitable for children as it’s a place for serious Ayurvedic programmes.

Reviews

Treatments and food were excellent. Everything else was a bit of a disappointment. The room I was given was not the one I paid for and the place is overrun with large package groups. Some levels of service are non existent eg front desk and I had an issue with the pharmacy giving my herbs to another guest.

Excellent Ayurveda treatments and choice of food. Staff were excellent and friendly, although there were some staff who were asking for money for their families from solo female guests. I have never experienced this in India as an accompanied female. Hotel and rooms are basic but very comfortable. Water is provided in the room daily. Very noisy when I visited as there was an ExPo event on the beach attracting thousands of visitors for 3 days, music playing until the early hours. With all the work building and then dismantling the noise went on for 7 days. I feel the hotel should have made tour companies aware.

Excellent service across the resort only downside was my room on the 2nd floor was below the 3rd floor where they have treatment rooms so noise from early morning with furniture moving and people attending 7am treatments.
