Top 5 Must-Do Tips at Amatara Wellness Resort, Thailand
Our Product Director, Helen, recently travelled to Amatara Wellness Resort in Phuket, Thailand to sample its wellness programmes and was extremely impressed with the high standards and quality of the wellness team and in fact the resort as a whole! Read her top tips here:
Rise and shine at an early morning yoga in the yoga pavilion
The setting is divine. Adjacent to the spa, gazing out across the Andamen Sea, with little islands peppering the view, including Koh Phi Phi (alas, no sign of a certain Mr Dicaprio though), it’s impossible not to feel invigorated, positive and blissful after an early morning class here. The teachers are superb and depending on who’s in resort, you may be lucky enough to have a private class all to yourself...
Spend time with Phoebe, Amatara’s gifted Naturopath Wellness Director
Offering a wealth of wellness knowledge with a calming and kind nature, Phoebe is such a go-to wellness member, incorporating naturopathic nutritional and lifestyle advice with Traditional Chinese Medicine. Think healing hands and healing words.
Take an early morning swim beside the wellness-focused the Retreat’ restaurant
Let’s be clear – the main swimming pool, with its towering Thai pavilions, water-spouting stone dragons and infinity edge is truly stunning and super huge. But for guaranteed peace (and we mean almost always zero children), I suggest taking a dip at the smaller, quieter pool beside the ‘Retreat’ and then an obligatory flop on a sun-lounger around the pool afterwards for a top-up of Vit-D! Or for an even more authentic dip, brace the many steps down to the private beach, set in a little cove, and embrace your inner Girl Friday.
Dine at least once at the ‘Grill Restaurant’
Offering both healthy and gourmet options, this restaurant has been awarded best restaurant by Thailand’s Tatler and with all the little between-course surprises and superb presentation, our reckoning is that their chef will soon be awarded a Michelin star rating now that the Michelin guide has been launched in Thailand. Go before the prices change... oh and be sure to have a pre-dinner mocktail (or something stronger) in the rooftop lounge bar and, fingers crossed, take in the glorious sunset!
Be sure to have a signature hammam treatment
Single-sex, sweaty, pore-opening, muscle-soothing, detoxifying and oh so effective, this incredible treatment is a must (and unusual for Thailand, too). Part Moroccan, part Turkish, part Thai but fully unique in its own way!
