Travel Blog - Atmantan Wellness Resort, India
Our client, Sandra, was so impressed by Atmantan Wellness Resort in India, that she called to tell us all about it (we love it when clients do that) and then kindly put her thoughts 'on paper' below so you too can get the inside track on what it's like to have a wellness holiday there. Here's what she thought about her stay:
What were your first impressions of Atmantan Wellness Resort?
I went with my daughter and, as it was our first time in India, we were not quite sure what to expect. However, we needn't have been at all apprehensive as we were warmly welcomed and wrapped in kindness from the moment that we arrived - it was the loveliest feeling! We were also wowed by the setting - it just opens up before your eyes (the vistas are incredible) and it's very beautifully designed and laid out. The resort is set over 40 acres but somehow manages to feels cosy too. There's lush planting everywhere and I loved the herb 'patches' growing all around with the plants labelled so you could work out the glorious aromas.
What do you think makes it so special?
I would have to say the team - they were so friendly and sincere and nothing was too much trouble. There's plenty of them so there was always someone around to help with any questions. The restaurant staff guided us through all the various dishes which was very helpful (I preferred to avoid anything over- spicy) and the lovely lady in the Té-jus bar even bought us over puzzles to do whilst we were having juices in case we fancied exercising our brains! The spa team were also very nurturing - making sure we were comfortable at all times before and during treatments.
What was your favourite activity?
I would say the spa treatments - the therapists were incredible. I did the 'Holistic Health' programme so had a daily massage included and could choose from a range including Ayurvedic, aromatherapy or holistic massages. I loved the variety and found them so relaxing and restorative. I also had accupuncture and reflexology sessions which were excellent - I just laid back and put myself in the hands of the experts! My daughter really enjoyed the daily group fitness activities (from yoga to stretching) which were energising and fun and I joined the Pranayama Breathing class. Seemingly, it's very good for anxiety and I picked up some useful tips to calm myself going forward. We both had a wellness consultation at the start of our stay and our programmes were then personalised to suit our needs and goals which I found particularly impressive. We were also advised what to eat and avoid - I was advised to eat warm, cooked vegetables rather than salads to ease digestion - very helpful!
How was the food?
It was deliciously healthy with a range of dishes including local and international choices. I love Indian food and can tell you that the dhal was fabulous! The portion sizes are not huge but we soon got used to them and realised that was the correct amount that we should be eating so have vowed to change our habits now we're back at home. The chefs were usually around and enjoyed explaining the ingredients in the various dishes which was a nice touch. No alcohol is served on-site but that wasn't a problem for us at all - in fact it was nice not to have the temptation! I also did a cookery class one day which was a great way to meet fellow guests and it was interesting to learn how to make some authentic dishes.
Any ‘insider’ tips to share with us?
Just soak it all up! We really didn't want to leave and the sheer friendliness of everyone (including the other guests) just enhanced our stay. The attention to detail throughout the resort is first-class and we haven't stopped talking about it since we got back. We were there for Diwali and the team even invited us to their party so we headed over to their living area for much merriment including a spot of karaoke...
Who would you recommend Atmantan Wellness Resort to?
I think it would suit anyone looking for a wellness holiday in a peaceful, inclusive environment. The facilities are very impressive and there is so much to do (we had a packed schedule which my daughter loved and I just took time out when I felt like it) and we felt that it was very good value for money. Single travellers would be very at home here I'm sure as the team really look out for you and want you to have the best holiday possible. We're already planning our next trip - yes it really was that good!
