Wellbeing Escapes Retreat at Quinta Da Calma in Portugal
One of the Top 25 Yoga Holidays (The Sunday Telegraph 2017)
On one of our trips looking for amazing health retreats, we stumbled across this hidden gem that we immediately fell in love with. It is the labour of love of veteran wellness innovator, Sylta Kalmbach, who opened it as the first Integral Yoga Retreat over 35 years ago. In the days when nutrition was not even spoken about, Sylta was leading the way in how people could heal themselves through the food they ate.
All these years later, we have joined forces with Sylta to update the retreat and improve it further under her watchful eye and guidance. We feel honoured to bring this special holistic retreat that is steeped in history to our clients. Here you will connect with yourself and with nature. It is not a hotel with extensive facilities and conventional luxury. It is a luxury of a different type. A luxury of being able to step away from your life in untouched corner of the Algarve and spend time with yourself and other like-minded people and to improve your mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing.
Wellbeing Escapes Retreat at Quinta La Calma is now closed for the winter season - please contact us for further details.
Cottages: these newly refurbished cottages are stylish and have a separate living area, bedroom, kitchenette with a fridge, hob unit and kettle. The bathroom has a stand up shower units (no bath). The bedroom includes a double bed and there is a double sofa bed in the living room so 2 or 3 adults can be accommodated. There are only 4 cottages and are the most popular room type, so book early.
Jacaranda: there are 3 rooms, each at 25 metres squared. The rooms are comfortable and include 2 single beds (for single or twin occupancy or they can can be pushed together to make a double). There is a separate toilet and also a separate shower room with a stand up shower unit. The room has a kettles and fridge.
Buganvilia: these are the entry level, very affordable rooms and are in a chalet-style wooden building. There are two single rooms with single beds at 15 metres squared and four rooms at 20 metres squared that include two single beds. The Buganvillia rooms have shared showers and toilets (two rooms share one shower). Each room has a kettle. These rooms are quite basic and, due to the wooden construction, do not have great sound proofing but provide a good value option for those on a budget.
