Continuous posture monitoring is virtually impossible but Postural Gym helps train the body to maintain a healthy posture thanks to a set of exercises.
Almar Jesolo Resort & Spa has designed a special programme focused on postural gym and its exercises that allow to you to re-establish muscular balance and to assume the right postures in everyday life.
Both who live a sedentary lifestyle and those who practice sport at a competitive level, due to the different motor outlines resulting from the physical activity, should do some Postural Training exercises, in order to restore muscle balance and to re-educate the body to perform any movement accurately.
Marco Viale, the instructor of Pilates, Tai Chi and Functional Training at Almablu Wellness & Spa, divulges some tips for releasing a psychophysical and muscular re-balance, focusing on a set of techniques combined with a postural massage and a foot reflexology session, aimed to improve posture. By acting on these three activities that correct posture, indeed, starting from the head, through the chest down to the pelvis, postural massage therapy goes a long way toward restoring energy balance to the whole body. Acupressure techniques in the plantar area, instead, stimulate all the meridians connected to the other organs and systems in the body, while the spine reflex points follow the line of the outside edge of the foot which help improve poor posture, thanks to the appropriate stimulation.
The postural gymnastics aims at the correct body alignment involving movement, sensation and imagination. It can also be defined as an educational and postural intervention, which leads to automate the movements and integrate them into everyday life, organising the movement more effectively and efficiently. As Mr. Viale recommends, dedicating time to a discipline that takes care of the whole person, working on body awareness, breathing in the correct position to keep in daily activities represent a good way to maintain and improve our health.
Within the motor activity, in every type of gymnastics, athletic training, sports in general, postural education must be considered as a fundamental element of programming, as it will determine an important basis for correct postural style throughout the individual existence. The wrong attitudes must be corrected by combining the right mix of motivation and effectiveness: Mr. Viale states that, after a proper training with the Postural Gym instructor, it is also possible to practice exercises autonomously at home, helpful to keep regularly preventing wrong postures.
The longer the dishabituation, the longer the work to fix it. Dysfunctional postural structures become “chronic” are consequently hard to fix.
The gymnastics becomes an important physical activity in which, by learning and performing simple exercises for the awareness of body image, the knowledge of the structure functionality helps the individual to use his own body in the best way possible, both in daily and sports activities.
Through this type of approach, the individual will try to correct all those non-functional postural attitudes, in order to prevent all those morphological-structural alterations of the normal physiological curves of the spine, which often become a frequent cause of the musculoskeletal pain.
For those who lead a sedentary lifestyle, especially who works every day sat down at the computer and students, being in the same static position can cause an imbalance, which later generates more imbalances too. For instance, a very common consequence due to a disproportion in the posture is the so-called “short Iliopsoas” that can cause pain in the low or mid back, as well as groin, thigh, knee. According to Mr. Viale, indeed, when doing a sedentary life, it is crucial to practice some exercises, even autonomously, in order to restore the muscle balance and improve joint mobility, maintaining all skeletal segments well aligned.
Last but not least, to those who love to walk by the sea, Mr. Viale also suggests to enjoy a promenade at the beach in the morning, while being caressed of waves which, as well as being relaxing, is also one of the most effective posture correcting techniques. As a matter of fact, sand is one of nature's most suitable elements for posture improvement and looking at the footprints helps understand if and how much we force our way through life, thus experiencing feelings of heaviness or lightness.
