Knowing what to pack for your yoga retreat can be hard to whittle down if you have never been on one before, especially as each retreat offers different activities and changing weather conditions. However, there are some staples that you should definitely add to your yoga retreat packing list…
Yoga Clothing
Now this one is a biggie. Packing something you feel comfortable doing yoga in should be number one on your list. Pack a few sports bras or tanks and your favourite stretchy yoga leggings, you’ll be practically living out of these! If you want to keep things co-ordinated, pack neutral colours so you can mix and match. Even if you are travelling to a warm climate it can get chilly in the early mornings and evenings, so pack a few long sleeve tops especially if you want to be up at the crack of dawn doing yoga with the sunrise.
An open mind and positivity
You’re going on a yoga retreat! Go with an open mind and positivity, this really is a unique experience that you won’t be forgetting any time soon.Work out accessories
These are added extras! Hair ties to keep your hair out of your face during classes, resistance bands or blocks to help you reach the trickiest poses and a massage ball to help you cool down after a long day.Diary or Journal
When asking yourself ‘what to pack for a yoga retreat’ don’t just think about the practical essentials. If there is room left, pack a journal for jotting down any ideas and inspirations. Retreats are the perfect place to reflect and look to the future.Comfortable shoes
Chances are your yoga retreat is in a beautiful location that you’ll be gasping to explore between classes. Your yoga retreat packing list has no room for heels! Pack a comfortable pair of shoes that you can go exploring in and a slip on pair such as flip flops to wear to your next yoga practice.A sarong or a small towel
The last thing you want to happen whilst you’re perfecting your downward dog is slipping on your own sweat. Pack a small rag such as a sarong or a towel to dab away your ‘glow’ so you keep your grip.Reusable water bottle
Hydration is key, as especially as you’ll be breaking a sweat learning your new yoga moves, therefore a reusable water bottle is key. You can refill your water bottle and take it between classes to keep you topped up. Plus, a reusable water bottle is good for the environment, bonus!Travelling essentials
You definitely cannot forget these; your passport, travel tickets, visa if you need one and a bit of spending money. If your yoga retreat is all inclusive you won’t need to exchange much into local currency as food, drink and activities are usually all included. However it’s good to have a bit of extra in case you want to explore the local surroundings or fancy experiencing a few additional activities.Swimming costume
Adding a swimming costume to your yoga retreat packing list is another must. If your resort is located somewhere tropical there will likely be a beach or pool that you wouldn’t want to miss out on. If you’re packing for a yoga retreat somewhere cooler, there is still often a spa or indoor pool that you’ll want to take a dip in too cool off after your yoga sessions, so packing a swimming costume is essential.Yoga mat
Don’t worry too much about this one. If you don’t have your own yoga mat there are usually some at the resort for you to use at your disposal. However, if you have one it’s definitely good to bring it as the ones at the resort tend to be a bit worn and it’ll make you feel more comfortable from the start.Top tip:
If you really want to switch off from the stresses of daily life, leave behind the make up, hair curlers, straighteners and skinny jeans, and switch off those emails! Instead opt for comfies and au-natural approach. You’ll come back feeling really refreshed, relaxed and a pro at your new yoga moves. Why Wellbeing Escapes?
