Overview hotel
Sashwa River of Stars is in South Africa’s Greater Kruger region, overlooking the Olifants River. This stretch of water is a well-known wildlife corridor, and a hotspot for elephants, hippos, crocodiles and birdlife. The lodge sits within a 2,000-hectare private unfenced reserve, where the animals can move freely through the landscape.
When to go
October to March brings the hottest temperatures and is the most popular time to visit. Between April and September, expect crisp mornings and evenings, clear skies, and more comfortably warm daytime temperatures.
What we love
- Wake to the distant sound of elephants at dawn, move through the day accompanied by birdsong, and fall asleep to the steady calls of hippos and lions after-dark
- The Star Bath experience lets you soak in essential oils beneath a starry African sky, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the wilderness
- The lodge follows a Circular Gastronomy approach, which means any waste including food waste is used to regenerate soil.
Who should go
- Nature and wildlife lovers
- Anyone looking to combine unforgettable safari adventures with wellness and relaxation
- Families with grown up children, couples or solo travelers looking for a wilderness escape
