Retreat Overview

‘Back to the roots’ is a 3 night yoga retreat which will take place at the fairy tale setting of Avalon Wellbeing Centre on the historic grounds of Broughton Hall. The Retreat will be led by specialist yoga teachers; Brooke Elliston and Benny Holloway who will provide soothing music. You can expect 4 days filled with yoga, meditation, workshops including ancient yogic philosophy, Thai massage, creativity and music. Apart from this, you will be given an opportunity to bathe in wild swimming pools, gather for sacred rituals and a shamanic sound journey in the fire temple. Attune your body to the natural rhythms and adventure from outside in.

Retreat Centre

'Back to the Roots' is a unique yoga retreat led by Brook Elliston who will be supported by live music from Benny Holloway.

Brook Elliston is an internationally touring yoga teacher. She has studied the ancient teachings of Tantra Yoga in Thailand which underpinned her teaching style. Her classes blend the dynamic style and offer slow, strong flow with a meditative and poetic approach. She is an ambassador of Lululemon and Nakula Organics. 

Benny Holloway is a self-taught artist from Byron Bay. He creates psychedelic ambient sound baths encouraging the listener on a compelling introspective journey. He has also been playing live alongside Shiva Rea, Janet Stone or Meghan Currie. 


Avalon Wellbeing Centre is a state-of-the-art Wellbeing Centre, part of the Broughton Hall Estate. Facilities include 20m pool, sauna, steam room, hydromassage pool, meditation pod, conscious library, relaxation room and PT studio. Access to these facilities is included in the retreat price. Avalon has a no shoe policy - please bring a pair of indoor slippers or socks.

Range of spa treatments is available at Avalon at extra cost. We recommend to pre-book your treatments in advance.

Rooms

Accommodation is in the stunning historic Broughton Hall based on shared twin rooms or single occupancy. Hall accommodation is in the Grade 1 listed stately home surrounded by stunning countryside and formal gardens.  All bedrooms at Broughton Hall are traditionally furnished and enjoy a very individual character. All have a theme and an interesting history to them. The linen and furnishings are impressively luxurious and the bathrooms have been updated to modern standards.

Camping is allowed and if you prefer you can bring your tent/camper and join the retreat. Tent pitches are located minutes from The Hall on the private Estate. Shower and toilet facilities are situated nearby. 

If you live locally and wish to attend but won't need accommodation or wish to pop in for a day, we have day or non-residential tickets available too. 


Broughton Hall - Sharing room

£665 per person (shared room)

These rooms are for sharing and have 3 beds in each room. 

Rooms have private bathroom which will be shared by 3 room occupants. 


Broughton Hall - Foundation room

£710 per person

Foundation rooms provide more a affordable option.

There are 6 foundation rooms:

- Monks - the small room suitable for 1 person 

- Boudoir - a single room offering north-west facing views over the garden

- Penthouse Park - situated at the top of the house and can be set up as a twin room or a single room

- Bow Dressing - a cosy room with a four poster double bed - Also suitble for single use

- Penthouse Garden - a small double room.

These rooms have shared bathrooms.

Broughton Hall - Rooms with shared bathroom

There are two of these rooms:

  - South has a king-size bed and can accommodate a extra single bed

  - Buff is a smaller room with a double bed and ideal for single occupancy

 Both these rooms share one bathroom.

Broughton Hall - Premium room

£1100 per person (shared room)

All have private bathrooms with a free standing bath or walk in shower or both. 

Camping (bring your own tent)

£440 per person

This ticket will give you an access to the retreat. You can set up your tent/caravan and camp on the Broughton Hall's grounds. 

Camping will be set up next to the fire temple with outside toilet and shower behind Avalon Wellbeing Centre. Guests can use Avalon facilites during opening times. 

Limited to 6 spots only. 

What’s on the menu

You will have full board included in the retreat. The day will start with tea and fruit at 7am, a wholesome brunch at 9.30am, light lunch at 1pm and dinner at 6.30pm. All meals will be served in a social environment with retreat participants. Food will be served in the Dining Hall at the Hall. Please advise us of any dietary requierent prior to the retreat. 

Location

Surrounded by 3,000 acres of beautiful landscape, The Broughton Hall Estate is located on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The hall has been passed down through thirty-three generations of the Tempest family who have nurtured the estate.

By car

By Road  

Broughton Hall is situated at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. The main road that runs by the Estate is the A59 and the nearest town is Skipton. When travelling from Skipton bear left 200 metres past The Bull Inn. When travelling from Lancashire, follow signs to Skipton, turn right 200 metres after the A59/A56 roundabout. The postcode for SatNav is: BD23 3AE. 


By Rail

Trains run frequently from Skipton railway station to all parts of the UK. There is a direct service to and from London King’s Cross/St Pancras. You will have to change in Leeds. 

A taxi from Skipton station to Broughton Hall takes around 5-10 minutes and costs approximately £10.
