Top 3 digital detox retreats
A detox isn’t just about what you eat. More and more people are realising that our phones, tablets, televisions, laptops and especially social media is causing us to feel over stimulated. A digital detox refers to a period when you refrain from using tech devices. This might sound difficult but if you can do it, the benefits are amazing. You can get back to the ‘real’ you without distractions, it encourages you to socialise more and allows you to let go of the stress that stems from being constantly connected.
Head off to a holistic retreat with no Wi-Fi or restricted access, take in your surroundings with your eyes and not your phone. Here's our top 3 recommendations:
Chiva-Som Health Resort, Thailand
One of the most established destinations spas in the world, Chiva-Som Health Resort is immersed in the lush tropical gardens in Hua Hin and leads directly onto the beach. Not only does Chiva-Som provide world-class wellness but they also have a strict no technology policy in the communal areas of the resort meaning you MUST leave your phone in your room.
Wellbeing Escapes Retreat in the Dominican Republic
One of the reasons we choose the location of our retreat was because it’s tranquillity. Wake up to the sounds of waves crashing on the shore and the birds tweeting. When you are in such a remarkable place, you completely forget about the outside world. Whilst technology isn’t banned, you are encouraged to switch off. There’s also an option to do a day of Silence if you want too (we highly recommend trying it!)
Shanti-Som, Spain
Shanti-Som is a small boutique yoga retreat located high in the hills above Marbella and Malaga. Due to its rural location, Wi-Fi can be a bit patchy. The only place you can get a full connection is in the main reception area of the retreat. We see this as a benefit because you have no choice but to stop worrying about your emails and enjoy the retreat free of technology. Why Wellbeing Escapes?
