How To Make Friends as a Solo Traveller
If you are looking for the chance to escape the craziness of day to day life, a solo holiday can offer you the peaceful sanctuary that you’ve been searching for. Alternatively, if you are a solo traveller, holidays for one can be a sociable retreat with every opportunity to make friends with other like-minded individuals who are on the same path to wellness as you.
Whilst we have a selection of wellbeing retreats that are specifically designed for solo travellers, we are experienced in finding safe destinations for singles and most of our retreats are open to all. At Wellbeing Escapes we also are able to negotiate single-friendly package deals for some of our retreats. Bonus!
What is a singles retreat?
A singles retreat is a destination that offers solo travellers the ideal destination to meet other like-minded individuals. Singles retreats are also designed to be safe for wellness travellers travelling alone. In addition to this, they incorporate activities such as group classes and communal dining which allow guests every opportunity to make friends. These can range from yoga retreats, fitness retreats, spa breaks, detox retreats and holistic retreats all designed with solo travellers in mind.

Group dining
Group dining at the end of the day is the perfect opportunity for solo travellers to make new friends and bond over an evening spread. Sitting down in the evening will allow you to get to know your fellow wellbeing travellers and discuss your day, your favourite activities and swap stories. This is the ideal set up for those of you worried about eating alone! Talking to others over a delicious meal will create bonds and they may become part of your plans for the next day or even your next wellbeing holiday.
Group classes
Group classes offer even more opportunities to make friends. Why not spark a conversation over a sunrise yoga session? Swap stories during your afternoon hiking? Or offer advice during your evening Pilates? During group classes and activities you will be surrounded by people who love doing things that you love doing as well, what better place could there be for making friends?
Small retreats
Most of the solo retreats we have on Wellbeing Escapes are hosted for small groups in intimate settings. This means that once you make a friend on your solo holiday, you will more than likely bump into a familiar face wherever you go. When you sit down for dinner in the evening, you will probably recognise a friend you made at the spa earlier that day, or greeted at the beach the day before.
Like-minded people
Whilst you are on holiday, you won’t have any of the usual distractions. There will be no working, no family obligations and no stress. Your days will be filled with fun activities, engaging classes and all the time to bond with your fellow solo travellers. Why Wellbeing Escapes?
