Our Sales and Marketing Executive Lisa jetted off to the five-star Almar Jesolo in Italy, renowned for its restorative therapies, postural exercise programmes and serene seaside setting. Here, she gives us the lowdown on her stay.

I was warmly greeted by my transfer at Venice Marco Polo Airport and driven through the beautiful Italian countryside full of vineyards and olive groves. I arrived at the resort after an easy 30-minute drive. When you first arrive at the Almar Jesolo Resort & Spa, all you see is a large hotel block, so I did have my reservations that the hotel would be too big for a solo traveler! But that was quickly banished as soon as I stepped out of the car and I was met by the staff who were so friendly and welcoming. I knew I would be well looked after here.
After an efficient and informative check-in, I was given a tour of the hotel and shown to my room. I was in a Deluxe Seafront View, which had a large private terrace with direct views out over the swimming pool and the beach. There was a really chilled-out vibe throughout the hotel and although it’s large, it didn’t feel overcrowded and everything felt so well managed.
The Almablu Spa has won plenty of awards, including ‘World’s Best Luxury Wellness Spa’, so I had very high expectations before I arrived. I’m pleased to say I was extremely impressed.
It is a holistic spa, so the main focus here is on rejuvenation and relaxation and the programmes are very much focused around de-stressing you. Upon arrival, I instantly felt chilled out and ready to start my ‘Relax and Regenerate' programme. I had a full body scrub, moxibustion (a Chinese medicine heat treatment, which uses dried plant materials called ‘moxa’ that are burned near the skin with the aim of removing blockages and treating pain), followed by an energy full body massage and finally foot reflexology.
All treatments were incredible, so much so that I feel asleep in all of them. A sign that I have relaxed my mind. It was the little touches that really impressed me, such as the attention to detail from the therapists and the herbal tea after every treatment. I also learnt that the therapists have at least two days per month of training, so I’m not surprised the treatments were so amazing! As well as the treatments, I really enjoyed using the wellness area, which includes saunas, steam rooms and jet pools. It was the ideal place to escape from the midday sun!
The food here is a real highlight and each dish is designed to the highest standard using only the freshest, local and seasonal ingredients. Breakfast is buffet-style, there is plenty of hot and cold options as well as a healthy corner. There is an egg and pancake live cooking station, so you can order any type of egg you fancy as well as customised pancakes which I loved. For dinner, I dined in the speciality Mediterra restaurant. Alongside the normal à la carte menu, you can choose from the Wellbeing Menu. Briefly summarised, this includes lots of vegetables, high quality raw ingredients and low calories. The menu is simple and locally sourced with the aim of providing energy and stimulating optimal health. During the day, I grabbed a lighter meal such as a Caesar salad at the Pool Bar. And seeing as the Prosecco region is only an hour away, I had to try the amazing Prosecco! I also tried the healthy detox afternoon tea, which is served in the River Lounge Bar and includes three tiers of healthy savory and sweet goodies – I would highly recommend!!
My favourite activity was the personal postural session with Marco. As someone who sits at a desk for most of the week, my posture could most definitely be improved. I really enjoyed the range of stretches Marco taught me and things I can continue at the home, plus the room overlooked the ocean which was so relaxing.
I would have to say the impeccable service here. As soon as you arrive you feel like you are being taken care of. The staff know who you are and make you feel like a VIP. Everyone from the reception to the restaurant staff to the spa therapists and the housekeepers, nothing was too much to do.
Make the most of the complimentary bikes. You can borrow one for up to three hours and cycle down the beach promenade and high street, stop off on the way at one of the many traditional pizzerias or for a delicious Italian coffee.
As a solo female traveller I felt very comfortable and well looked after. I would say that you do need to be an independent solo traveller to come here, as it is a big hotel. I would also recommend to couples and families, too. It’s ideal if you need some time out from a busy job and it’s super easy to get to. Also great it you want to combine a luxury spa holiday with the culture of Venice nearby. I will most certainly be back!
