Overview
Galosol was the first active hotel in Madeira offering plenty of fitness facilities ideal for those looking to keep active whilst on holiday. It’s part of Resorts who also own Galomar (the adults-only hotel next door) and Alpino Atlantico (the Ayurveda retreat down the road) and all three share their facilities. But it’s not all about fitness here, you can also relax in the Ashoka Spa with the range of holistic spa treatments as well as make the most of the water front location, outdoor swimming as well as natural lido and diving centre.
When to go
Madeira is full of microclimates but stays warm almost all year round. Temperatures in winter are 18 – 22 degrees and in summer 24 – 26 degrees.

Wellness
The Ashoka Spa (located in Galomar hotel next door) takes a holistic view to health and wellness offering a range of rejuvenating spa treatments and therapies inspired by the lifestyle brand ‘Ashoka Ayurveda’. The therapists here will help you to de-stress and help you achieve your wellness goals weather that’s purely to relax or perhaps a yoga focused escape. For those who love or want to try Ayurvedic cures, head to hotel Alpino Atlantico (5 minutes’ walk away) to enjoy an Ayurveda cure from the Ayurveda cure centre. Galosol hotel has a fully-equipped gym and you can enjoy daily fitness classes (see sample schedule below).
Facilities in the Asoka Spa include 4 treatments rooms, steam sauna, finish sauna, bio sauna, infra-red cabin and relaxation area indoor and ourdoors.

Galosol hotel has 125 rooms which are divided into 3 blocks. You can choose between garden or sea view rooms. All rooms are decorated in a modern style inspired by the island's nature and using warm colours. Some rooms were renovated on 2017. A Great option for families are interconnecting rooms which are available here.
Garden View Room
Garden View Rooms have either a double bed or twin beds and balcony with views over the gardens.
Each has an en-suite bathroom with shower or bathtub.
Facilities include flat screen TV, air-conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, telephone and safe.
There is a pillow list available.
Side Sea View Room
These rooms have either a double bed or twin beds with a balcony and partial sea view.
Each has an en-suite bathroom with shower or bathtub.

Sea View Rooms have either a double bed or twin beds with a balcony and direct sea views.

1 Bedroom Suite
The Suites have a king size bed and balcony with direct sea views. The bedroom is separated from the living area.
Each has an en-suite bathroom with walk in rain shower or bathtub.

What’s on the menu
Food here is a real highlight and there is a large choice of delicious international cuisine to choose from. Restaurant Ondamar offers daily themed buffet options, The a la carte restaurant Atlantis Restaurant (located directly by the sea) serves fresh fish and seafood. The Capoeria Lounge serves light snacks, ice-cream, wine and cocktails. The Pizzeria Galosol offers authentic Italian cuisine including pizza, pasta and salads.
Ondamar
This buffet restaurant offers daily themed buffets with local cuisine. Gluten- free, vegetarian and organic food options are also available.
Pizzeria Galosol
Menu includes pizza, pasta and salads with veggie and gluten-free options.
Atlantis Restaurant
This restaurant serves fresh fish and seafood caught that day. The restaurant enjoys panoramic views of the Atlantic ocean so it’s the ideal place to dine at any time of the day.
Location
Galosol is located on the south eastern coast in a quiet part of Madeira overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It’s location is a short drive from the capital city of Funchal which is full of charm. Madeira is well known for its adventure activities so try cycling, hiking, boat tours or scuba diving which the hotel can arrange.
Nearest airport
The transfer time from Cristiano Ronaldo Funchal International Airport is approx. 15 minutes by car. There are direct daily flights from London to Madeira with British Airways and Easyjet and the flight time is approximately 4 hours.Families, Children & Infants

I felt a little uncomfortable holidaying at this hotel by myself, as there were no single people-apart from 1 lady that I saw on my last day.
The frequent change around of reception staff I felt was not great, (in the space of 6 days). For example I would get to know 2 or 3 staff members one day, then I would not see them again. The helpfulness and friendliness of reception staff was very inconsistent. The same with the gym staff. However Anouk from the hotel reception was exceptional!
The food was very enjoyable. Lots of variety I only wished when booking that I knew about half board +. As I was unable to have a glass of water with my evening meal unless I paid for it.
The hotel room was very functional everything in the right place I.e a small bin in the bathroom and one in the bedroom. I did however, resent that fact that you were charged €1 for a change of swim towel.
Garden was well maintained and the pool area was kept clean and washed down every morning .
The spa was amazing and the treatments. Spa staff were very polite, helpful and friendly.

I had a really lovely time staying at the Sentido Galosol, the staff were always very friendly and helpful. The food was great. I had a sea view room and it was beautiful. The spa treatments I had during my stay were wonderful, the ladies there were great. The spa facilities I would highly recommend, especially the saunas and the relaxation area overlooking the sea.
It was the relaxing holiday that I needed and will definitely recommend here to my friends and family.

Nice hotel with great amenities and excellent service at the reception desk. Buffet breakfast is good too and they keep the rooms nice and tidy (they change sheets and towels everyday). Would recommend!
