Wellness

Amanwella's spa is a place of relaxation - listen to the waves of the Indian Ocean and the gentle breath of coconut palms. Treatments will incorporate ingredients from Sri Lanka's herbs, plants and flowers and therapist will ensure that every treatment will be tailored to your needs. Spa is taking inspiration from Ayurveda and you will be able to enjoy traditional warm-oil treatments. Treatments can be arranged in the comfort of your own room, either inside or in the courtyard. Hotel can also organise private yoga or personal training sessions done on the beach or in the privacy of your room. Sessions will be tailored to your needs, goals and level of expertise. Guided meditation is also possible.

There are only 3 suite types to choose from and each has a private plunge pool. All suites are modern, minimal and open to sounds and sights of Sri Lanka with floor to ceiling sliding glass doors on both sides. Suites overlook the beach, ocean or coconut grove. Rooms have wi-fi connection, sound system, safe, personal bar and spa treatments are available in your room too.

This suite is 100 SqM featuring a plunge pool in a private courtyard (6 x 4m).

What’s on the menu

Amanwella celebrates Sri Lankan cuisine in all its beauty and variety. Menus include authentic local dishes complemented by Asian and Mediterranean classics. Locally-caught fish is one of the main ingredient as well as vegetables and herbs from the resort's own organic gardens. 

Resort has 3 restaurants and also offers a private dining option which can be arranged in your room, on the beach or in multiple settings off the property. 

Apart from these dining options you can chose something a bit different such as Village Dinner - you will travel by tuktuk for a dinner in a typical Sri Lankan village with a local family or Roti Feast - dinner in a traditional home surrounded by jungle where the family will prepare a roti meal. Cooking classes can also be organised.

Beach club is located in the western part of the beach and offers feet-in-the-sand experience. Open for casual lunches, beach BBQ, romantic dinners featuring Asian salads, grilled sea food, Mediterranean classics or even home made ice cream.

An informal venue with panoramic views of the pool, beach and the ocean. Lounge bar serves lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and drinks and is open daily from 10 am to 11pm.

Location

Hotel is located on the south coast of Sri Lanka, near a popular tourist town Tangalle. There is a golden sand beach - Rekawa Beach and hotel is ideal for activities such as surfing, whale watching, snorkeling or fishing. Sri Lankan highlights such as Udawalawe National Park, Bundala bird sanctuary, tea plantation, ancient temples or holy caves are not too far away. 

Nearest airport

Colombo International airport is 212 km away and car transfer would take about 2 hours and 45 minutes. 

There are direct flight from London to Sri Lanka (Colombo) which takes approximately 11 hours and is operated by Sri-Lankan Airlines.


Visa and entry:


You will need a visa to enter Sri Lanka. To apply you will need a booking confirmation, return flight ticket and a proof of medical insurance.

If you have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 a negative PCR test is required prior to boarding your flight. Test must be no older than 72 hours.

Second test will be taken within 24 hours of arrival


If departing within less than 14 days a further test is required a couple of days prior to departure otherwise a third test is required on day 11 to 14 in resort, if tests are negative you are permitted to leave the hotel


If you have had both vaccine doses of COVID-19 with at least 2 weeks prior to arrival will be required to produce original copy of vaccination certificate in English.

PCR test will be required within 24 hours of arrival and if negative will be able to leave the hotel.


We will arrange for your tests in Sri Lanka to be carried out at the retreat and organise your mandatory Covid insurance ($132 for 3 PCR tests and Covid insurance to be paid on booking).

Families, Children & Infants

Kids are allowed at the resort but hotel is not recommended for very young children. There is no kids club. Older kids over 12 will love the beach and nature.
