Rudra Sahashrara
Ubud, Bali
Overview
You’d be forgiven for wanting to stay put, though. With just 18 rooms, the retreat blends Bali’s natural beauty – dense greenery, vibrant blooms and a serene infinity pool – with an intimate, family-run atmosphere. The star of the show is the Ashtalaxmi Ayurveda Wellness Spa, where personalised treatments, yoga sessions, and traditional Balinese purification ceremonies are all part of the offering.
Meals are served in the on-site restaurant, a vibrant, harmonious space with rattan furniture, Technicolour cushions and tables with crystal centrepieces. Dishes are vegetarian and crafted with care – the chefs use local produce and practice gratitude while they work.

Wellness
Ashtalaxmi Ayurveda Wellness Spa is the heart and soul of the retreat, dedicated to the ancient art of Ayurveda and led by a team of skilled therapists from India. It’s home to a yoga hall and six therapy rooms.
Your journey begins with a personalised Ayurvedic consultation. Using techniques such as pulse diagnosis, the team will assess your unique mind-body make-up (dosha) and design a tailored therapy programme to support your wellness goals.
Retreat programmes unfold over several days, allowing for deep, systematic healing. This structured approach ensures thorough detoxification and rebalancing for long-term benefits. On your final day, you'll receive a summary of your treatments, personalised lifestyle recommendations, and a book on home remedies and Ayurvedic recipes. Daily group yoga sessions are a key part of your stay, complemented by a personalised yoga therapy plan crafted by the in-house Ayurveda expert.

There are just 18 rooms here, with rainbow-hued wall murals and simple wooden furnishings that nod to Bali’s vibrant colours and bohemian roots. All are bright and airy, with floor-to-ceiling windows and views of the tropical grounds.
Like the name suggests, these first-floor rooms overlook the pool, and come with a double bed, private bathroom and furnished balcony. Room facilities include air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, a TV, mini bar, safe, telephone, desk and tea and kettle. Bathrobes, slippers, toiletries and towels are also provided, and water in glass bottles is available on request.
What’s on the menu
At Rudra Sahashrara, chefs support the retreat’s holistic vision with Indo-herbal, Ayurvedic-inspired vegetarian cuisine. Using organically grown, locally sourced ingredients, they create menus that balance the six essential tastes – sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter, and astringent – featuring fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and dairy.
Meals are mindfully prepared, with mantras and chanting to enhance digestion and emotional wellbeing. Your stay includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea, and water. Coffee is available, but there’s no alcohol on the resort.
Location
The retreat is surrounded by tropical gardens on the outskirts of Ubud, less than a 10-minute drive from the centre. Widely considered to be Bali’s spiritual and cultural heart, it’s known for its temples, art, cafés and monkey forest. Denpasar Airport is an 80-minute drive away.
