A luxury boutique hotel surrounded by scented pine forests and turquoise waters, Teranka is the ultimate Formentera hideaway. Along with a beachfront setting, soulful wellness experiences and wholesome Mediterranean cuisine, this adults-only retreat also promises plenty of bohemian charm.
A member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World collection, Teranka Formentera is a chic, bohemian hideaway with a coveted spot on the island’s south coast, overlooking Playa Migjorn, the island's longest beach. From here, the views stretch across five kilometres of ivory sand, turquoise Mediterranean waters and leafy pine forests.
The hotel is just a few years old; contemporary and design-led but with a rustic flair that echoes the spirit of the island. Think driftwood furniture, hanging rattan lanterns, and airy interiors filled with local artwork and ceramics.
The retreat's wellness ethos also celebrates the Formentera way of life. When you’re not practising sunrise yoga, working up a sweat in the open-air ‘Tarzan-style’ gym, or hiking in the wraparound forests, you can grab a cushioned lounger by the pine-shaded pool or savour fresh, wholesome cuisine by the water, in the garden or on the rooftop terrace.
Just so you know, Teranka is an adults-only hotel that welcomes guests aged 12 and above.
At Teranka, the philosophy is simple: slow down and reconnect. Guests are encouraged to surrender to the calming rhythms of the sea, sky, and land through a free-flowing wellbeing concept designed to restore both mind and body. And there's a complimentary weekly programme of activities.
Days can be spent practising yoga, breathwork, or meditation, taking long walks on the beach, hiking, swimming, cycling, stargazing, or enjoying restorative treatments. The hotel’s wellness offering includes a lengthy menu of therapies and rituals, combining classic treatments like deep tissue massage with more holistic practices, including Ayurveda.
Spa and wellbeing facilities include two treatment rooms located within the Mar building, an ice bath, and a sea-facing outdoor yoga and meditation platform. For more active guests there’s an open-air gym, with private training, yoga, Pilates, and meditation sessions available.
In partnership with leading wellness specialists, OPO, Teranka has also created a series of bespoke guided meditations, sound baths, and nature experiences.
The retreat has kept its original dry-stone architecture, with interiors filled with local materials, works of art and natural, earthy colours that work in harmony with the surrounding landscape.
There are 34 rooms and suites spread across three buildings: Cielo, Tierra and Mar. Mar is the main building, with the best sea views (front or side) and views over the swimming pool. Tierra is nestled among pine and juniper trees, so feels ultra-peaceful, while Cielo offers more privacy. Rooms in Cielo come with kitchenettes and private terraces with sea views.
Please note, a local eco tax is payable per person, per night on departure.
For those looking to get out and about, the hotel can arrange car, motorbike, and even yacht hire. Complimentary bicycles are available, too, with guided cycling experiences on offer and scenic hiking routes nearby.
The island is easily reached from Ibiza via a ferry service, which operates every 30 minutes during the summer season. The crossing takes around 30 minutes, followed by a 20-minute transfer from the port to the hotel, 12 kilometres away.
The hotel is open until 10 October 2026.
