Designed for those seeking stillness, restoration and deeper connection with themselves and nature, Vana offers personalised programmes that draw on Ayurveda, Tibetan medicine, yoga and natural healing therapies. From your first arrival consultation and wellness screening, a team of experts tailors your retreat to your goals – whether that’s stress relief, weight loss or spiritual harmony.

The retreat’s holistic approach combines nurturing treatments, delicious healthy meals, daily group activities, educational workshops and generous outdoor time in a pin drop-peaceful setting. With indoor and outdoor heated pools, dedicated wellness and healing centres, meditation spaces, and a wide range of movement, mindfulness and sports options, this is a place for those looking for meaningful transformation in serene surroundings.

Families are welcome here, with children up to five offered Casa and Vana Suites, while children aged six to 11 can stay in all room types. Wellness facilities and activities are for guests aged 16 and over.

Wellness at Six Senses Vana

Each stay at Six Senses Vana includes full board nutrition, a wellness screening and medical consultation, daily treatments, and access to group activities. Every retreat is personalised, shaped by your length of stay, how deeply you wish to explore, and the level of guidance you prefer. Following your arrival consultation and screening, the medical team designs a tailored agenda to support your individual goals.

Vana draws on a range of healing traditions, including Ayurveda, Tibetan medicine and natural healing therapies, alongside acupuncture, reflexology, alignment work and pampering spa treatments.

The minimum stay is three nights, but certain programmes require a longer commitment for deeper results, such as Panchakarma (21 nights) or Ayurveda and Weight Loss (14 nights).

Facilities include dedicated wellness, Ayurveda, Tibetan and natural healing centres, indoor and outdoor heated pools, a hot tub, Watsu pool, steam room and ice fountain, as well as a fitness room, tennis, padel and badminton courts, a meditation cave, yoga studios and pavilion.

Group activities run daily from 7am to 7pm, offering tools and practices to take home so you can continue your wellness journey even after you check-out.

You’ll have two restaurants to enjoy, along with a tea and juice bar.

Vegan, vegetarian and allergy-friendly options are available, and all meat and fish are responsibly sourced. The resort works closely with local farmers and grows many of its own herbs, salads and vegetables on-site. All soya products are made from certified organic soya grown in Uttarakhand.

What We Love

  • The Tibetan Medicine offering is unique, and the department was blessed by the Dalai Lama
  • The long community table at Salana – it's perfect for solo travellers who want company while dining
  • The creative pursuits – pottery, art, making potions at the apothecary – gets you out of your overactive mind and into a space of creativity

Who Should Go

  • Solo travellers who want to meet like-minded people, it's a popular retreat for those on their own
  • Anyone who needs quiet time to reflect, meditate and be still
  • Those looking for a dedicated wellness retreat with soul

LOCATION

Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, in a dense Sal forest just outside Dehradun, Vana is a refuge for exotic plants, birds, butterflies, and the odd monkey. It’s close to vibrant Rishikesh, the birthplace of yoga, and the spiritual town of Haridwar is a 90-minute drive away.

Various expert-led excursions can be organised, so you can experience the Rishikesh Ganga Aarti (Hindu daily ritual), nature trails and hikes in Mussoorie and the Uttrakhand foothills. You can also visit Santala Devi Temple, Barlow Ganj and the Jabarkhet Nature Reserve.

The nearest airport is Dehradun, approximately a one-hour drive from the hotel. For those who prefer rail travel, Dehradun Railway Station is around 30 minutes away by car. There are two daytime services and two overnight trains daily from New Delhi Railway Station, with a journey time of approximately six hours.

WHEN TO GO

Weather in general is temperate, even the warmest days are welcoming, and evenings are comfortable. The monsoons are the lushest and the best time to be on retreat as per Indian tradition - from late June to early September with medium to high rainfall
