About SwaSwara

SwaSwara calls one of India’s most spiritual coastal spots home. It’s set in 26 acres of gardens and coconut groves just above Om Beach, whose honey-hued shoreline mirrors a sacred Hindu symbol. The resort reflects the area’s calm, contemplative rhythm, providing a nurturing space for rest, mindful practice and transformative wellness.

There are just 27 villas here, which echo traditional Konkan architecture – clean and simple in design and each with their own yoga deck. Speaking of yoga, it’s at the heart of an experience here, with daily sessions complemented by meditation and an Ayurveda spa for personalised treatments. Other highlights include art classes, storytelling sessions, beach walks and nature trails, plus a forest-facing swimming pool for cooling dips.

Just so you know, the minimum guest age at SwaSwara is 15. 15 to 18-year-olds can enjoy medical or Ayurvedic treatments with the Ayurveda doctor’s approval, while spa facilities and therapies are reserved for those 18 and above. Younger guests are welcome to take part in all other activities, such as yoga, meditation, treks, art classes and swimming.

Wellness at SwaSwara

Yoga is at the heart of a SwaSwara stay, with resident teachers offering at least five Hatha yoga classes daily for all levels in a dedicated hall or outdoors. Complementing this ancient practice are authentic Ayurveda and naturopathic spa treatments, overseen by qualified doctors. At the resort’s centre, you’ll find a thatched meditation dome with stunning forest views. There's also a meditation platform tucked among the grounds.

Just so you know, pick-and-choose spa treatments aren’t part of this holistic approach, keeping the focus on curated wellness experiences focused on goals like detox and sleep. Beyond your prescribed therapies and movement sessions, you can enjoy art classes, storytelling, and the retreat's plentiful spots for quiet reflection.

PROGRAMMES

What’s on the menu?

At SwaSwara, every meal is a celebration of fresh, Ayurvedic flavours. Daily menus feature seasonal vegetables and the catch of the day, with juices and herbal teas to complement each dish. You can join the interactive kitchen and learn to cook meals suited to your dosha.

If you don’t like the idea of a breakfast curry, there’s a continental option. All produce is sourced from the resort’s organic farm and local suppliers. Dairy, eggs, and oils are used sparingly, while meat, refined sugar, and refined flour are left off the menu. Wine is available for lighter programmes.

For those on detox or Panchakarma, meals are vegetarian and sattvic (a diet that promotes clarity, calmness, and balance). They’re tailored to your dosha and body type by the Ayurveda doctor and followed throughout your stay.

Your accommodation at SwaSwara

SwaSwara’s 27 two-storey villas are designed to echo a traditional Konkan village, with laterite walls, thatched roofs, and red-oxide floors. Bedrooms are air-conditioned, and the rest of the villa is open to the elements, with courtyards and open-to-sky bathrooms. Upstairs, there’s a yoga deck overlooking the surrounding forest. Loose-fitting clothes are supplied for classes and meditation sessions.

Things to See and Do

What We Love

  • SwaSwara tries to introduce local elements into your stay to remind you of the country's customs
  • Laughter yoga: you may well be skeptical at the start of this class with forced false laughter, but you will quickly find this turns to real giggles and is quite infectious!
  • Wi-Fi can only be found in the library to encourage a complete digital detox

Who Should Go

  • Yogis who are serious about this ancient practice and wish to dive deeper
  • Solo travellers looking for a quiet environment but with an opportunity to meet others
  • Ayurveda first-timers or those wanting a proper detox or Panchakarma programme

LOCATION

SwaSwara is beside the golden sands of Om Beach, close to Gokarna on India’s west coast. A temple town with sacred roots, Gorkana charms with laid-back cafés and palm-fringed yoga studios, plus it’s only an hour’s drive from the otherworldly Yana Caves.

The nearest airport is Goa International, a three-and-a-half-hour drive from the retreat.
