About Sentido Galosol

The family friendly Sentido Galosol is ideal for those who want to stay fit and explore during their holiday. With a fully equipped gym, indoor and outdoor pools, and a wide variety of sports and wellness facilities on offer, the hotel caters perfectly to active guests.

As part of the Galo Resort group, guests can enjoy shared access to facilities at neighbouring hotels – including an adults-only spa and a dedicated Ayurveda clinic – so there’s plenty on offer if you want to slow down the pace a little, too. For total relaxation, head for the holistic Ashoka Spa, a healing haven of saunas and steam baths, plus  relaxation areas with panoramic sea views.

Thanks to its oceanfront location, the hotel has direct access to the Atlantic, a natural lido, and a diving centre, so you can get your fill of watersports, snorkelling and scuba diving. The Ashoka Spa, located at the neighbouring Sentido Galomar hotel, takes a holistic approach to health and wellness, with rejuvenating spa treatments and therapies inspired by the Ashoka Ayurveda lifestyle brand. Therapists can help you de-stress or focus on yoga and wellbeing goals. For Ayurvedic practices, the Ayurveda Cure Centre at Hotel Alpino Atlantico, a five-minute walk away, offers tailored treatments.

Ashoka Spa facilities include four treatment rooms, a steam sauna, Finnish sauna, bio sauna, infrared cabin, and indoor and outdoor relaxation areas. There’s also a fully equipped gym and daily fitness classes.

What’s on the menu?

Guests can tuck into a variety of international cuisine here. Ondamar offers daily themed buffet options, while the à la carte Atlantis Restaurant, right by the sea, specialises in fresh fish and seafood. For lighter bites, ice-cream, wine and cocktails, the Capoeria Lounge is lovely and relaxed. Lastly, there’s Pizzeria Galosol, which serves authentic Italian pizza, pasta and salads.

Your accommodation at Sentido Galosol

Galosol has 125 rooms spread among three blocks, offering views of the garden or Atlantic Ocean. Modern and comfortable, they’re dressed in blue and white echoing the coastal setting. Interconnecting rooms are available, making it a great option for families. A pillow menu is available on request.

LOCATION

Sentido Galosol is located on Madeira’s sleepy south-east coast, with a front-row view of the Atlantic Ocean. You’re just a short drive from the capital, Funchal, here, putting you in good stead for exploring the city’s bodegas, shops and Farmers’ Market. Transfers from Cristiano Ronaldo Funchal International Airport take around 15 minutes. 

Madeira is celebrated for its outdoor adventures, and Galosol can arrange experiences nearby such as cycling through scenic trails, hiking in dramatic landscapes, and boat tours along the coast.

WHEN TO GO

Madeira is full of microclimates but stays warm almost all year round. Temperatures in winter are 18 – 22 degrees and in summer 24 – 26 degrees.

I felt a little uncomfortable holidaying at this hotel by myself, as there were no single people-apart from 1 lady that I saw on my last day. The frequent change around of reception staff I felt was not great, (in the space of 6 days). For example I would get to know 2 or 3 staff members one day, then I would not see them again. The helpfulness and friendliness of reception staff was very inconsistent. The same with the gym staff. However Anouk from the hotel reception was exceptional! The food was very enjoyable. Lots of variety I only wished when booking that I knew about half board +. As I was unable to have a glass of water with my evening meal unless I paid for it. The hotel room was very functional everything in the right place I.e a small bin in the bathroom and one in the bedroom. I did however, resent that fact that you were charged €1 for a change of swim towel. Garden was well maintained and the pool area was kept clean and washed down every morning . The spa was amazing and the treatments. Spa staff were very polite, helpful and friendly.

I had a really lovely time staying at the Sentido Galosol, the staff were always very friendly and helpful. The food was great. I had a sea view room and it was beautiful. The spa treatments I had during my stay were wonderful, the ladies there were great. The spa facilities I would highly recommend, especially the saunas and the relaxation area overlooking the sea. It was the relaxing holiday that I needed and will definitely recommend here to my friends and family.

Nice hotel with great amenities and excellent service at the reception desk. Buffet breakfast is good too and they keep the rooms nice and tidy (they change sheets and towels everyday). Would recommend!
