Beach lovers, wellness enthusiasts and adventure seekers will feel right at home here. It’s a place where you can slip straight into the sea from a water villa, swim with whale sharks and manta rays, explore marine life, or sneak away for a private picnic on Lavadhoo, the resort’s uninhabited island. As for the spa? It teams personalised health consultations with fitness classes, yoga on the shoreline and sumptuous treatments in overwater cabins.
At mealtimes, you’ve got three eateries to choose from, serving everything from fresh-from-the-net seafood to elegant Japanese cuisine.
The resort welcomes all travellers, with a kids’ club and a range of activities for children. The spa is accessible from 16 years of age.
The spa menu includes classic favourites as well as targeted therapies. Massages range from relaxing to invigorating, while body treatments help tone, detoxify, and revitalise. Separate spa menus are available for men and children.
Guests can book consultations with COMO experts or request personal sessions with internationally accredited teachers, including yoga, Pilates-based core classes, pranayama breathing exercises, and meditation.
Facilities include eight overwater treatment rooms, a steam room (separate for men and women), sauna, Jacuzzi, open-air yoga pavilion, and a fitness centre.
Rooms are designed by Japanese architect, Koichiro Ikebuchi, who’s incorporated nature and local culture into the aesthetic. All are built from New Zealand pine with Kajan thatched roofs, and floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto spacious terraces.
COMO Maalifushi is the only resort in the Maldives’ Thaa Atoll, set in the quieter southern part of the archipelago. Guests also have access to Lavadhoo, COMO Maalifushi’s uninhabited private island, ideal for a castaway experience. Local exploring comes in the form of catamaran rides, private boat charters, an aqua safari and turtle expedition – speak to the team for more info.
The nearest airport is Malé. From here, guests transfer to the resort by seaplane, a journey of approximately 60 minutes. An airport representative will meet you on arrival and escort you to the seaplane check-in counter. Please bear in mind that seaplane transfers operate during daylight hours only, so arrivals after 3.30pm will require an overnight stay in Malé before travelling to Maalifushi the next day.
