Overview hotel
Bahia Mar sits right on the beachfront in the coastal town of Vilankulo, Mozambique. Vilankulo is the main gateway to the Bazaruto Archipelago – five idyllic islands set within a protected marine reserve teeming with marine life and home to a two-mile coral reef. The waters here are calm and perfect for swimming, and the hotel lays on a number of excursions including fishing, sailing and island-hopping trips.
The nearest airport is just a 20-minute drive away and the hotel lays on free transfers for guests. The most convenient route is to fly into Johannesburg (South Africa) and then take a one-and-a-half-hour connecting flight to Vilanculos. Alternatively, you can fly to Maputo (Mozambique) and connect onward to Vilanculos, with the domestic flight taking roughly one hour.
When to go
Best time to visit is from April to November which is dry season. The rainy season is between December and February. March to November is a good time to visit with nice temperatures and less crowds.
