About Sen Wellness Sanctuary

Sen Wellness Sanctuary is an intimate, eco-conscious retreat tucked between the Indian Ocean and the Rekawa Nature Reserve on Sri Lanka’s southern coast. You can walk through the grounds to a caramel-coloured beach in just a couple of minutes. Designed in harmony with its wild surroundings, it’s a quiet, boutique sanctuary that welcomes a maximum of 16 guests at a time, and has an adults-only policy.

Each stay begins with a private consultation with a resident Ayurvedic doctor, who tailors your daily rhythm of treatments, herbal medicines and mindful practices. Daily yoga – from sunrise beach sessions to classes in the treetop shala – is at the heart of the experience, supported by sound healing, breathwork and meditation. Simple treatment rooms and a palm-fringed pool offer restful spaces between sessions, along with airy, authentic cabanas decked out in dark woods. Meals, meanwhile, are seasonal and vegetarian, served communally so you can connect with other guests.

Wellness at Sen Wellness Sanctuary

Sen Wellness Sanctuary has a holistic approach to wellbeing – it draws on an integrative system of healing that blends advanced scientific principles of the West and ancient wisdom of the East, and combines Ayurveda, yoga, meditation, herbal medicine, immersion in nature, and community connection. The philosophy is simple: help your body, mind, emotions, and spirit live in harmony and reset your natural rhythms.

Each stay begins with a private consultation with the resident Ayurvedic doctor, who prescribes a fully personalised programme of treatments, yoga, and herbal medicines tailored to your body constitution (dosha) and any imbalances. Yoga classes focus on Kundalini, Vinyasa, and Yin, guided by world-class instructors, alongside intuitive local therapists and talented chefs.

While there isn’t a full spa here, there are rustic treatment rooms and a dedicated yoga shala.

What’s on the menu?

Fresh, authentic Sri Lankan cuisine plays a starring role here, with locally grown and sourced ingredients. The resort has developed its own biodynamic rainforest farm, with a goal of producing 75% of its food.

Chefs work closely with the Ayurvedic medical team, so meals can support your personalised programme. The diet is predominantly vegetarian, dairy free and low in wheat. Fish is served when freshly caught by local fishermen, but there’s no meat. Alcohol isn’t served, but vibrant mocktails are available.

Each day begins with a freshly brewed herbal tea before morning yoga, followed by coconuts to rehydrate and refresh. Three buffet-style communal meals are served daily.

Your accommodation at Sen Wellness Sanctuary

Sen Wellness Sanctuary has 10 airy thatched cabanas, made up of eight eco-cabanas and two luxury cabanas. All are crafted by local artists using traditional materials and designed for natural ventilation.

To support a restful stay, Wi-Fi is available throughout the retreat but not in bedrooms. Each cabana is stocked with simple, eco-friendly bathroom amenities.
