Overview
Santani sits 2,800 feet above sea level, occupying forty-eight acres of a former tea plantation, surrounded by pristine rainforest and overlooking mist-shrouded mountains. And the architecture is just as stunning as the surroundings. Blurring the line between indoors and out, it’s beautifully minimalist, with warm woods and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Wellness is centred around Ayurvedic treatments, hydrotherapy, yoga, fitness and wholesome cuisine. With just 20 chalets, peace and privacy is a given, too. Families are welcome, but only with over 12s due to the peaceful nature of the retreat.

Garden View chalets are a 10-minute walk from the main building and public areas, with a tuk-tuk service available on request. Ideal for families with children over 12, they offer a cosy, secluded feel and come with a private en-suite with shower and a balcony with a garden view. Facilities include a safe, tea and coffee making facilities and bathrobes and slippers.
These are standalone buildings, conveniently located near the hotel facilities. As such, we wouldn’t recommend them for guests travelling solo or doing a spa programme. Each has a king-size bed, a private en-suite with shower, two wardrobes and a seating area, plus a furnished balcony overlooking the mountains. Facilities include a safe, tea and coffee making facilities and bathrobes and slippers.
What’s on the menu
At Santani, the chefs and Ayurvedic doctor have crafted a range of menus (including traditional, vegetarian, low-carb, detox and spa options), using the freshest locally sourced ingredients and produce from the resort’s own greenhouse. Your personalised eating plan, created by the wellness team, is tailored to your goals, so you’ll enjoy balance without ever going hungry. Expect thoughtful, gourmet dishes served with a mountain view in the hotel restaurant. There’s also an open-air pavilion with a juice bar, serving fresh juices by day and Biodynamic wine in the evening.
Location
Santani Wellness Resort & Spa is tucked away in Werapitiya, just an hour’s drive from the cultural city of Kandy and perched on top of an old tea plantation. Nature lovers will be drawn to the nearby Knuckles Mountain Range.
It's around four hours from Colombo International Airport. For a quicker option, you can take a domestic seaplane from Colombo to Victoria Reservoir in Kandy, followed by a one-hour drive (flights operate 7am to 4pm, weather permitting). We can also arrange helicopter transfers – ask us for more information.
Families, Children & Infants
Children under 12 years are not allowed due to the tranquil nature of this resort. Families travelling with teenagers can stay in Garden view chalets.Reviews
