About Ayurvie Weligama

You’ll find Ayurvie Weligama on Sri Lanka’s south coast overlooking Weligama Bay and shrouded by palm-cloaked gardens. It’s a traditionally styled retreat, with lots of neutral colours, natural materials, and huge windows that invite the light and sea air in.

Facilities include a triangular infinity pool perfectly positioned to make the most of the Indian Ocean views. There’s also direct access to a golden sandy beach, a serene Ayurvedic spa and beautiful yoga shala, with floor-to-ceiling glass and bronze statues.

Wellness is fully personalised. Guests follow tailored Ayurvedic programmes guided by experienced doctors, with one-to-one consultations, Panchakarma cleansing, daily yoga and pranayama breathwork – plus lots more. Meals are vegetarian and carefully prepared, designed for individual body types. Alcohol, meat and carbonated drinks are intentionally excluded to support a complete reset.

Ayurvie’s sister retreat in Sigirya offers the same healing philosophy in a dramatically different setting – inland, surrounded by jungle, ancient rock fortresses and UNESCO-listed heritage sites. Ask us about a twin-centre stay, which will let you experience both in one epic trip.

Just so you know, children are not encouraged at this retreat. The minimum age for guests is 13 years and above.

Wellness at Ayurvie Weligama

Ayurvie has an established reputation for helping guests improve their physical and mental wellbeing, pairing traditional treatments with a calm, supportive environment.

Ayurvedic doctors, therapists and chefs work closely together to deliver traditional treatments tailored to each guest, with Panchakarma (toxin elimination) and Ayurvedic therapies, daily yoga and pranayama breathwork (there's a shala for morning and evening group sessions), and vegetarian menus and herbal elixirs designed to suit individual body types. The same healing philosophy is offered at sister property, Ayurvie Sigirya, making a twin-centre stay possible.

Wellness here extends beyond treatments, with cultural experiences that give insight into Sri Lankan life, history and spirituality. You can meet the head monk at the Bimbarama Temple for an informal discussion or join a meditation session, learn how to prepare traditional sattvic dishes during a cooking demonstration, visit a pre-school and computer centre (partly funded by the hotel), or explore the best-preserved sea fortresses in South Asia, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
