About OCEANO Health Spa Hotel

This contemporary high-rise is a great option for a sunshine-infused reset, with an oceanfront perch on Tenerife’s lush north-eastern coast. It’s nicely secluded, surrounded by ancient woodland, tropical greenery, and mountain peaks. And there are walking and hiking trails that lead directly from the hotel.

You choose your wellness journey at OCÉANO Health Spa. Led by a professional team of doctors and therapists, the spa treatments are aimed at aiding detox or boosting fitness through massages, shiatsu bodywork, and osteopathy.

Some guests opt to follow the Mayr method – a detox designed to rest the digestive system, under expert guidance from the resort's Mayr medical centre. Others simply come to make the most of the hotel’s standout facilities, which include thalasso pools, Finnish and bio saunas, salt-rich therapies, and a natural ocean pool.

Just so you know, children are welcome at the hotel. While there are no babysitting services or kids’ club available, a baby cot or highchair can be provided on request.

Mayr medicine emphasises digestive rest through therapeutic fasting, guided by sensitive diagnostics and the core principles of rest, cleansing, education, substitution and movement. Individually tailored programmes often include abdominal massage, known to tone the intestines, stimulate lymph flow and ease breathing – an approach used for chronic complaints and preventative care.

If Mayr detox isn’t for you, OCÉANO runs thoughtfully designed alternatives spanning weight control, relaxation, yoga and physical rehabilitation. A skilled team of doctors and therapists supports detox, fitness and renewal through massages, shiatsu, osteopathy, Ayurveda and seawater-based treatments. Facilities range from the indoor thalasso pool (34 degrees) and seawater whirlpool (32 degrees) to saunas, a gym, tennis court, yoga studio and natural sea pool (26 degrees).

FX Mayr Mental Balance

This specialised programme combines the core principles of F. X. Mayr medicine with targeted treatments designed to promote inner balance and sustainable stress reduction. Walk & Talk coaching sessions, relaxing treatments such as massages and Ocean Healing Sound in the Thalasso pool calm the nervous system, strengthen emotional resilience and enhance mental wellbeing. The Walk & Talk format is inspired by a method originally developed in psychotherapy: conversations while walking, typically in natural surroundings, can ease access to personal topics and create a more relaxed dialogue. The coaching is offered exclusively within the F. X. Mayr “Mental Balance” programme and is conducted by qualified medical professionals. These sessions are intended to support reflection on individual stress factors, promote self-awareness and foster inner stability.

Please note: these conversations do not replace psychotherapy and are conducted outside any psychiatric or psychological diagnosis or treatment framework. They represent a medically supervised, health-promoting measure within the context of F. X. Mayr medicine.

FX Mayr Detox

For the intensification of the classic F.X. Mayr therapy with a focus on abdominal treatment and special attention to the activation of the intestine and the stimulation of the detoxification organs. This programme is perfect for those who want to do Mayr week but add some extra pampering.

FX Mayr Classic

Mayr Medicine focuses on therapeutic fasts to rest the digestive tract. After sensitive diagnostics, the patient is individually treated and guided according to the following therapeutic principles: rest, cleansing, education, substitution and sports. This is a basic and classic F.X. MAYR diet programme. With minimum stay of 14 nights required, programme is suitable for people with experiences in fasting and as prevention of high blood pressure and abdominal ailments. This is also recommended as basic programme for a healthy lifestyle.

Oceano Yoga Escape

Take part in the Yoga Escape programme to enjoy your private break away from it all. Take a deep breath, relax and refuel during our intensive yoga training in a group setting or during an individual private session, combined with therapeutic Ayurvedic treatments. Minimum stay 7 nights.

Oceano Weight Control

With this programme we accompany you on the way to your feel-good weight. Balanced, alkaline-rich nutrition and deep-acting seawater treatments stimulate the metabolism and ensure relaxation. With personal training and aqua fitness, you work specifically on your fitness and experience a whole new body awareness. In addition, the daily yoga programme provides new energy and balance. Movement is one of the central elements for physical well-being. Our experienced specialists and therapists help you to relieve pain and regain mobility. What’s on the menu?

Food is fresh, intricately presented, and mainly seasonal and locally sourced, with seafood, meat and vegetarian options available. Your programme includes breakfast and a healthy three-course dinner (choose from a menu).

If you’re following the detox programmes your meals will be based on Mayr principles. You and your Mayr doctor will determine whether you’ll be fasting or enjoying light, nutritious Mayr food. Detoxing guests eat in a separate dining space with an outdoor terrace, and are encouraged to dine in quiet contemplation.

All 88 rooms face the ocean to varying degrees and have gorgeous views of Mount Teide. There’s no air-conditioning but the gentle Atlantic breeze is enough to keep you cool all year round. A DVD player and DVDs are available to borrow from reception free of charge.

LOCATION

The OCÉANO Health Spa is as far from mass tourism as it gets. It’s set right on the coast in Tenerife’s tropical north, in the tranquil fishing village of Punta del Hidalgo and sandwiched between the Atlantic and the mountains. Along with superb views guests have easy access to the UNESCO-protected village of La Laguna. The cosmopolitan capital, Santa Cruz, is 24 kilometres away. It’s a 30-minute drive from Tenerife North Airport, and one hour from Tenerife South.

Tenerife enjoys mild weather all year round. The hottest month is usually August and the coldest month is usually January. The wettest month of the year is December.
