About Zulal Wellness Resort - Serenity

Zulal is the Middle East’s first dedicated wellness resort, operated by Chiva-Som, Thailand’s world-renowned wellness pioneer with more than two decades of experience in transformative health retreats. Chiva-Som’s expertise in holistic programmes, personalised nutrition, spa treatments and fitness is reflected throughout Zulal, bringing a globally recognised standard of care to the Arabian Gulf. As such, it's recently been recognised in The National Geographic.

With a prime setting on Qatar’s northern tip, where the desert meets the sea, Zulal is split into two zones. Zulal Serenity for adults seeking a tranquil, transformative experience, and Zulal Discovery, designed for families. Serenity guests can follow personalised journeys that pair holistic approaches with Traditional Arabic Integrative Medicine (TAIM), the world’s first centre for the modality.

The cutting-edge wellness facilities include indoor and outdoor pools (separated by gender), a Himalayan salt room with marble beds, an Arctic cave with snow and more than 40 treatment rooms. Other highlights are the contemporary rooms – dressed in soothing neutrals – and stylish restaurants serving up intricately presented, nutritious cuisine.

Wellness at Zulal Wellness Resort - Serenity

The Zulal Wellness philosophy is based on six pillars of health: fitness, spa, holistic health, physiotherapy, aesthetic beauty and nutrition. Combining Traditional Arabic and Islamic Medicine with holistic wellness, it offers adults the chance to reset mentally and physically, adopt healthier habits, and create a balanced lifestyle.

Retreats are immersive and personalised, from slimming and fitness to spa relaxation and beauty, blending movement, fitness classes, massages, beauty treatments and energy-based therapies with time for self-reflection. Guests are also encouraged to enjoy outdoor activities in nature, such as stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking and island walks.

The spa includes 42 treatment rooms, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, Ayurvedic and Thai massage, relaxation areas, thermal facilities (including a hammam, salt room, arctic room, sauna, steam room and experience showers), and indoor and outdoor pools and mineral baths, all gender-segregated. Elsewhere, The Fitness Pavilion features movement studios, a Watsu pool and a mixed gym. Lastly, there’s an aesthetic centre for dermatology and treatments, and an Apothecary for herbal wellness products.

For those wanting to dive deeper, Zulal offers genomic (DNA) testing to provide insights into the likes of nutrigenetics and chronic disease risk, supporting personalised fitness, health and longevity goals.

What’s on the menu?

Eating well is central to Zulal’s philosophy, supporting energy, longevity and a wholesome way of life. Meals are balanced, nutrient-rich and designed to inspire healthy habits that last. The resort uses fresh, locally sourced produce, with a wide variety of dishes and beverages prepared from organic ingredients.

Guests on the Serenity Retreat enjoy their own exclusive restaurant and tea house with more than 120 blends of organic, herbal teas, while also having access to the resort’s other dining venues.

Just so you know, alcohol is strictly prohibited throughout the resort.

Reserved for Serenity Retreat guests for breakfast, lunch and dinner, taking diners on a culinary journey through global flavours. The menu also caters to guests following specialised programmes, with portions and dishes tailored for gut repair, detox or other wellness goals.

Acacia Dining
This fine dining destination reinterprets international and Arabian cuisine while staying rooted in Qatari culinary heritage. With a focus on healthy, mindful eating and local flavours, every dish is crafted using only the finest ingredients.

LOCATION

Zulal Wellness Resort occupies an expansive 280,000 -square-metre site on the northernmost tip of Qatar, on the edge of the Arabian Gulf. The setting is striking in its openness – flat desert terrain meets a private stretch of sandy shoreline.

The cosmopolitan city of Doha is a 90-minute drive away, a hub of luxury hotels, futuristic architecture and world-class restaurants, as well as cultural gems like the Museum of Islamic Art, Souq Waqif, and Katara Cultural Village. It’s also home to the nearest airport.


WHEN TO GO

Qatar guarantees sunshine all year round. It's best to avoid peak summer (July and August) as it gets very hot. The high season is from October to April when outdoor and daytime activities are popular.

I would highly recommend Zulal. The food was exceptional — everything is nourishing, beautifully prepared, and thoughtfully balanced from a nutritional perspective. The spa treatments were incredible, and the standard of service throughout the resort was truly exemplary. The pools are completely chemical-free, using filtered seawater and freshwater — a real standout feature. I booked through Wellbeing Escapes with a consultant named Rebecca, who was fantastic. She took care of every detail and ensured the trip was perfectly tailored to my needs. Zulal is a truly incredible destination. The rooms where lovely and spacious with everything you could want in them. They were spotlessly clean. The three restaurants were all unimprovable - probably the best food we've ever eaten. The design and look of the gardens and all the outdoor space was beautiful.
