Lisa, our Sales & Marketing Executive, recently paid a visit to Paradis Plage Resort in Morocco and totally adored it. She thought it had a very cool and friendly atmosphere and thought it was the perfect place to head for a spa holiday full of relaxation, spa treatments and exercise. Great if you've always fancied trying to surf as well or love it already and want to try some new waves.
What were your first impressions when you arrived?
After a really easy 4-hour flight from London to Agadir, I was met by my transfer and quickly whisked away to the hotel. I arrived at Paradis Plage Resort late in the evening so upon entering I was instantly greeted by a candle-lit, funky Moroccan style plus a sweetly-scented lobby. The reception staff were extremely welcoming, showing me to my room and explaining my itinerary for my stay. It's safe to say that I slept like a baby on the first night after travelling and the huge comfy bed made it even better.
What do you think makes the hotel so special?
The resort is so chilled with a great atmosphere. It is perfect for everyone – groups of friends looking for an active holiday, couples for a romantic getaway and solo travellers who want to find a quiet spot to read a book and do some energising yoga. The staff here will go out of their way to help you and always make you feel really special. I loved that fact that being a solo traveller, the staff always make conversation with you. The relaxed vibe, cool surf school and top-notch yoga all combine to create a truly wonderful resort.
What was your favourite treatment & why?
During my stay, I had a traditional Moroccan Hammam which uses cleaning Ghassoul from The Atlas Mountains and soothing black soap to cleanse the body. My skin had never felt so smooth! The spa is petite but cute with a total of 3 treatment rooms (2 singles and 1 double) plus the hammam. You can also book to have an open-air massage on the beachfront to the sounds of the waves which sounds amazing - next time definitely.
What was your favourite activity & why?
It's hard to pick just one. I tried surfing for the first time which was so much fun! The unique thing about Paradis Plage Resort is that they have a Ripcurl Surf School offering private and group lessons throughout the day. I opted for a private lesson and learnt the basics - what better way to learn than on a lovely beach in Morocco?
I also attended a sunset yoga classes in the glass-fronted yoga pavilion with sensational views over the beach and the sound of crashing waves and local birdlife. By the end of the lesson, the sunset was stunning and we all felt completely rejuvenated.
How was the food?
The food here is delicious. Breakfast is a buffet style with plenty of local fresh fruits, vegetables and cooked options. There was a great omelette-making station which I thoroughly enjoyed too. There are casual options here as well – the surf house offers casual dining throughout the day. You can also dine in the a la carte restaurant in the evening with fresh fish caught that day plus healthy salads and authentic tagines on the menu. There are more indulgent choices too such as burgers so you may have to 'police' yourself if you are trying to be good.
What was your favourite aspect of the resort & why?
The location is perfect as it is right on the beach front. The beach is a working one so wander along and you can watch the locals catching the fish, children playing and you can also go on camel ride.
Did you do any trips during your stay?
I had heard great things about Paradise Valley and therefore opted to do an excursion on one of the mornings. I was promptly met by my private guide in reception and whisked away. Driving through the mountains, my guide was really attentive and knowledgeable. We stopped off along the way at argan oil farm where I met the woman who made the amazing argan oil products and even had a go at extracting the kernels from the argan fruit. Arriving at Paradise Valley, we trekked through the mountains and arrived at a haven with amazing view and you can -cool off in the turquoise lagoons. We stopped off for a traditional tajine which was divine. I would highly recommend this trip
