Hidden away in the pretty village of Cuckfield in the West Sussex countryside, lies fine Elizabethan manor house Ockenden Manor within eight acres of parklands and gardens. Its spa has been created inside a 19th century walled garden so the contemporary and modern blend cleverly with traditional grandeur. It's a real haven away from the hustle and bustle with luxury facilities and stunning views across the South Downs. It offers the space to relax with plenty of cosy areas to chill out including the garden roof terrace, has an award-winning restaurant as well as a state-of-the-art fitness centre and studio.

When to go

The warmest months are June to September. The colder months are October – March.

The hotel aims to ‘uncoil, unburden and becalm’ and provide an ambience and treatments so you can do just that. Spa offer a number of massage and body therapies, facials, hand and feet treatments, floatation tank for the ultimate relaxation. Apart from this they offer the men’s grooming club. They recently partnered with Elemental Herbology, a luxury skincare range which combines natural botanicals with innovative technology.

There are 28 rooms in two houses set in nine acres of gardens overlooking Cuckfield Park. Rooms are named after members of the two families who have owned Ockenden Manor since 1520. All rooms are en suite and have a wi-fi access.

These rooms have king size beds, twin beds are on request and are located in the garden wing overlooking the gardens towards the South Downs National Park. Bathrooms have a shower and bath combination.

Free upgrade to Sussex room

Room are located in the oldest part of the Manor house. Beds are doubles and some are four poster.

What’s on the menu

Led by award-winning Head Chef, Stephen Crane, the Restaurant serves some of the finest food in Sussex. The fresh, seasonal menus (including vegetarian menu) offers locally-sourced food and a variety of healthy options including light, spa lunches. You can also splash out on a seven-course tasting menu if you are feeling indulgent.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, mid-morning coffee or a full afternoon tea. Restaurant overlooks far-reaching views over Cuckfield Park.

The drawing room and bar is the best spot for a glass of wine, afternoon tea or simply to sit a while, read the papers or gaze at sun-drenched terrace and gardens.


Hotel is in village of Cuckfield, West Sussex, with stunning views across the South Downs and some of Sussex and Kent’s main attractions just a short drive away.

By car

It’s 90 minutes by car from London or 60 minutes by train from Victoria station followed by a short taxi ride.
