Birch is a cutting edge venue near London offering a safe place to switch off (your phone as well as your brain) and re-connect. With 55 acres of land to roam around, weekly fitness and yoga classes and option to participate in art, pottery, bakery and other creative activities, the retreat is designed just for that! Spa treatments and other healing therapies are also available. Birch will not let you go hungry either with choice of 2 restaurants, bakery, 3 bars and juice bar. Being eco-conscious, they are strive to minimise their carbon footprint with produce made in house. Benefiting also from its close proximity to London, Birch is a funfair for adults! Come to Birch, escape your busy live and re-discover your inner child. Plus venue has been designed in very modern style so get ready to feast your eyes.

Wellbeing is one of the key pillars of Birch and they offer a 360 degree approach. A vast activity group schedule gives you a free access to different fitness and yoga sessions which you can join as much as you like if you stay overnight. 

Birch partnered with re:lax – a skin studio in Hackney to bring you a range of spa treatments such as facials and massages. It uses a combination of natural products, holistic methods, and high-performance techniques. Bookings for treatments are available for members and overnight guests only and must be pre-booked in advance. 

We’ve got the usual suspects (like massages and facials) and some unusual treats.There are some cool interactive activities you can do such as pottery, spoon carving, candle making or glassblowing (subject to class schedule). There is also an art studio where you can paint or join one of the regular classes or workshops. You can have a jam session in the music room or bake breads or pastries with a chef in an interactive bakery. On top of this there is also a range of horticultural activities available. Learn how to grow and compost, forage with a farmer Tom or have a go at beekeeping. Please note that these activities are at extra cost and will require pre-booking. 

Wellness space facilities include a large gym, weights area, yoga studio and spinning room. Brand new heated lido (25 meters) is now open and sauna is available for your use at the Wellness Space

There are 140 bedrooms in total. All are warm, modern and airy with minimalist design and playfull colours. There are some smaller rooms which are perfect for a single traveller but also larger rooms that can accommodate families. Twin beds are available and some rooms have bunk beds.

Rooms have wi-fi connection but there are no TVs. There is a communal screening room, that can hold up to 60 people, where you can watch films and documentaries. 

If you stay overnight you will automatically get access to all Birch facilities such as group fitness classes, lido or interactive bakery or pottery studios. 

Small Room
Perfect option for a single traveller. 

Room is en-suite with shower/bath and has a single bed.

Medium Room
This room is suitable for a couple. 

Room is en-suite with shower/bath and has a double bed. Extra bed for a child can be arranged.

This room offers twin beds which can be joined or separated by zip and link.

Bunk Room

Mansion House Room
The biggest rooms in the house with 22 SqM. Ideal for those who want to indulge.

What’s on the menu

Food & Beverage department is led by Robin Gill who is also responsible for The Dairy in Clapham. Most of the ingredients such as vegetables and herbs are grown on their farm. The also have their own chickens. All dietary requirements are catered for. 

Birch offers 2 food outlets and variety of bars including a juice bar offering healthy smoothies, kombucha and juices from the farm produce. The Store serves speciality coffee and teas, fresh salads, sandwiches and pastries throughout the day. 

Probably the most exciting food venue is The Bakery which offers an interactive baking classes.

Estate offers lots of opportunities to eat outdoors so enjoy laid back picnics or DIY barbecues. Private dining can also be arranged. 

The Zebra Rading Club
Indoor/outdoor restaurant serving lunches and dinners. Restaurant is reflecting Robin Gill's philosophy and restaurant is using the farm, wood and local produce.
Casual all-day dining offering breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Enjoy wood-fire oven pizzas or grilled meats and fish.

An interactive bakery studio. Just pop in and learn how to make a mouthwatering sourdough bread or a croissant. You can also pick up a grab-and-go breakfast here.


Birch is located on a private estate with 55 acres of land. Located in Cheshunt, north of London, Birch is easily accessible from central London. 

By car

If you are driving, Birch is just off M25.

If you are taking a train, nearest station is Cheshunt or Theobalds Grove. 

There is a regular service between Liverpool street and Cheshunt. Train takes about 30 minutes. From Cheshunt station take an UBER or taxi to the venue which is about 5-10 minutes drive away and cost about £8-10 per way. 

Hotel can pre-book your taxi from the station for you. 

If you are planning to cycle from London, there is a bike storage available. 

Families, Children & Infants

Kids are welcome. Bunk rooms are ideal for families. There is no kids club but some kids activities can be arranged and family classes are availalbe.
