G6PD Enzyme test

G6PD (glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase) is an enzyme that protects the red blood cells from breaking down if it gets in contact with antioxidants such as vitamin C, ozone and alpha lipoic acid. G6PD deficiency is a genetically inherited disorder that occurs in a small percentage of people, the lack of this enzyme can cause hemolytic anemia. This test is recommended when multiple sessions of IV or ozone therapy are administered, to monitor the effectiveness of the treatments.
